Kintyre and Arran long exposures

Picked up a D750 and haldia 10 stop just before the trip so gave them a fair bit of use.All in BW as I'm still trying to get to grips with coloured landscapes.. I'm not generally a landscape shooter.

This looks good compared to the colour photo(1st photo) in Flickr .

The lower part (landscape) of the picture in #1,3 &4 is nice, but I do not find the skies to be aesthetically or artistically pleasing- extended exposure just because you happen to have a light restricting filter does not necessarily a better picture make (IMO)

Peter, there are halos along the hilltop / skyline in all of these.
Something in your PP workflow needs a tweek

Never tried a 10 stop before myself but think I might be inspired!!

Thanks for the feed back.

sadly can't get the water without the sky being similar, and i understand there not everyones taste.

will have a look at them again and see whats caused the halo's did quite a lot of work silver efex so that might be the cause.

there great fun to mess about with Matt, worth it especially if you can pick one up cheap secondhand.

Honestly? Last two are a bit too overcooked for me - they have a far too extreme HDR look to them. Shot 1 is my favourite although the uneven horizon (to my eyes) would bug me.
