Landscape Lens for Canon 1D MK3.

Thinking of buying a good landscape lens for my Canon 1D MK3 body, but not sure which one.
17-40F4.0L USM seems good, but again not sure.
Around £350.00 price range. Thanks.

That's the one I have Lee, I'm sure there is better but for the price it gives good quality images, really depends what you are going to use it for.

I've no digital FF body just now but I still use a 1D3 for landscapes.

I've a 17-40L and a 24-105L and probably use them in equal measure.

Both do a good job

In terms of IQ - I'd say the 24-105 is better than the 17-40 over the duplicate focal range.

If your style requires that 17-24 range then the 17-40 is a fine lens.

It gets hard a time because people buy it as a first affordable L lens forgetting it's only f4 and expect it to perform miracles as a walkabout lens on a 1.6 crop.

Used at a sensible aperture it will produce good results and with a 1D3 give you a reliable weather proof landscape combo.
