I usually use my laptop for PP (need a new bit for my desktop). Anyway, how do I get the colours right?

If it's plugged in the screen lights up, changing the colour, if it's unplugged it's duller, so therefore another colour.

For eg, If I PP with it plugged in I'll PP the skintone to be sorta like this

Which is "truer"? I'm a little confuzzled!

When the laptop is plugged in, #2 looks washed out and when it's not plugged in, #1 looks dull...

Your laptop is set to reduce the brightness when on battery as opposed to AC source. You can either increase the brightness by pressing the FN key and another with a sun symbol on or you can go into the control panel and power options. Here you can change the settings so that the screen does not alter when on battery power.

Hope this helps?

Oh forgot to say,

Number 2 looks more pleasing to me so that would suggest that you need the brightness down a little anyway

No one looks a tad dark, which would make sense as the screen is brighter. I have done what paul suggests, works a treat and you'll come up with consistent outcomes.
