In a cheery mood I just wondered what songs / verses or other things are on our minds in these covid 19 days. They could be the end is nigh related or something more cheery :D

The first one I thought of was the Rolling Stone, The last time :D

No offence meant, but just farting in the general direction of death and misery :D

A couple more.

We don't want the virus so...

I hear you knocking but you can't come in.

And of course...

"Knocked once, tried to tell them I'd been there
Door slammed, hospitality's thin there
Wonder just what's going on in there

Saw an eyeball peeping through a smoky cloud behind the green door
When I said "Joe sent me"
Someone laughed out loud behind the green…
Saw an eyeball peeping through a smoky cloud behind the green door
When I said "Joe sent me"
Someone laughed out loud behind the green door
All I want to do is join the happy crowd behind the green door"

:D

The great gates of Kiev (ELP) the first few seconds and the last few seconds are the most pertinant
Come forth, from love spire
Born in life's fire,
Born in life's fire.
Come forth, from love's spire ....

....There's no end to my life,
No beginning to my death
Death is life!

Acapella version of the original from which the Stones version was derived. Normally we do this with a hand clap and more unison/less harmony and more male voices.

It was interesting Googling the history of The Last Time. I didn't know the Stones version was based on an earlier gospel song by The Staple Singers, or so says Wiki, but that the song goes back into the "mists of time."

I tried listening to the Staple Singers "This may be the last time" but I didn't like it at all.

I did go look that up - it's very much music of an era and a social group. There's been a change in the way music is both created and recorded over the years, and music which was once considered finely performed often doesn't meet modern expectations, sounding odd or unpleasant.
