Hi All

Really would like a new lens for general use, I have a Nikon 50mm 1.8, Sigma 18-50 2.8-4.5.
I was thinking Nikon 35mm 1.8 but then got reading up on the 16-85 by Nikon and with the cash back looks a good deal
any thoughts??

cheers Andy

What is wrong with your Sigma 18-50? Is it not doing the business for you? Variable aperture not working for you?

Usual suggestions are the 17-50 Tamron 2.8 or indeed the 16-85. People even suggest the Sigma 2.8 or the variable aperture one you have. So wondering why you feel you need to replace?

It's just the extra reach of the 16-85 that appeals tbh, nothing wrong with the 18-50 I find I use it almost all the time.
However I would definitely benefit from the 35mm 1.8 as I find my nifty abit to long for indoor work.

As you are already comfortable with the variable aperture of the Sigma, selling that and getting the 16-85 would give you that reach with similar light limitations. (although no 2.8 at the wide end)

But as you say, a cheap 35mm 1.8 could help there.

I suppose the other option is to consider a 24-70 / 17-70 2.8 type?
