Hi all,

Am left with using the cap supplied with my lens. Is a bit bulky and robs my Kata HB-205 of room for other things.

Does anyone know anywhere in the UK who does alternatives for the 300mm f2.8L IS?

Cheers, Mark :)

PS. I can find this one available in the USA:-

I use the Lenscoat ones (I got them from the US) for both my 300 and 500. I plan to do a quick write-up when I get the chance

Thanks guys :) Yep, I agree Ian, they do look a bit homemade, but robust

Gb, Warehouse Express seem to have a forest green hoodie cap in stock, size extra extra large and have asked them to collect from warehouse and I'll go into their showroom this afternoon. http://www.warehouseexpress.com/product/default.aspx?sku=1020096

Are you happy with the protection they offer? Cheers, WEX are selling them for £10.76 in that size so I'll save on postage and possible import duty on the Accent on Design one..

Cheers, Mark (y)

Yep, I'm very happy with mine. Warehouse didn't have them when I ordered mine but I guess they have another shipment in! Sounds a good price to me!

I also use the lens coat ones very good value, I looked at the one Ian C uses just didnt like it at all, so went for the lens coat versions, well pleased with mine.

Thats good enough for me! Have formally ordered one for collection at 3.30.

Cheers guys! Extremely helpful as usual(y):woot:

Extra room in my Kata bag. Fits like a glove and more than adequate to protect the front element.

Very good value for money at under £11, to protect a lens costing circa £3,000. Looking at the Lenscoat.com website, the UK price is more or less then same as in the USA:wacky:

Highly recommended (y)

Cheers again guys for the heads up. Really appreciated :clap::clap::clap:

Canon don't supply this lens with a lens cap, it comes with a very large leather bag which covers the whole hood.

Yep, it protrudes from the element by a good few extra cms and is thick leather, covering the whole hood. A bit unwieldy. Also the draw cord is not that functional either.

Here it is: http://www.wopple.com/Spec___2738A001AA___M006434.html

My Kata HB-205 bag also has armour like material at the bottom of the bag, where the end of the lens is, so has more than enough protection all in all(y)
