Hello

Is there anything you can buy to screw onto a lens to make it magnify. eg make a 300mm lens into a 400mm or 600mm etc??

how much are they and where can i get one from?

If so im after something for a canon lens. Just basic one i got when i bought my 500d.

Check out the Canon teleconverters - available in 2x or 1.5x.
It will add stops to the minimum aperture.
Sigma and Kenko also make alternatives.
Which lens would you be looking to use one with? There are compatibility issues.
 
What you're looking for is called a tele-converter - fits between the lens and the camera body. They are available in various magnification factors.

for use with a Canon 18-55 IS and Tamron 70-300 lenses

mainly the tamron 70 - 300
 
Good luck with the Tamron 70-300.

Have you had any decent shots with it?

I used one with my Canon 50D & could not get decent results with it :shake:

I returned it to Jessops & bought a Canon 70-300 IS USM, what a difference! I know it's a lot more expensive, but I was sick of getting a great shot ruined by the lens. Maybe it was me, maybe it was that particular lens :shrug:

Stick some shots on here mate.

Only recently got it and it was free with the camera so aint to bad for free hey!

Ive only used it once and ill try stick some pics in here when i work how to shrink a file down to 200kb?????
 
Anyone know which tele-converter will fit my canon 500d to use with my 70-300mm tamron lens?

websites and prices would be fab, tried Google and getting loads of make and only fit certain fittings, anyone know what i should be looking for??

A Kenko 1.4 DG or DGX works with the Tamron 70-300 although this does lose 1 stop and so is better in good light

It'll cost you £120, you will lose auto-focus, and the image quality will be very poor.

There is no cheap way of getting a good quality lens of that focal length. Sorry :(
