I have a Lensbaby composer, the swapping optics system (soft focus etc) and the wide angle and macro adaptors. I really like it, it is fun to use and I think very creative. There are many who can not stand the effects!!

It can be quite tricky at first, so I would recommend starting at f/4 or f/5.6, that way you can see where the focus is sharp and where it begins to blur. Once you use less than that it is difficult to really catch that sweet spot. I'd also say that initially don't 'bend' like mad, as a small movement on the lens will in fact move the focus point quite a bit.
Have you seen the Lensbaby website here, the foum part, under the studio menu is quite interesting and full of ideas. Also a couple of postings here.

I have a lensbaby control freak. I bought it for £49 from jessops not realising it should've been £299 but they happily honoured it!
I wasn't massively interested at the time, just thought it was a cheap gimmick,but how wrong was I! This particular model is hard at first as it seems you need more than 2 hands to adjust everything, but after playing around a little I can definitely see potential. I still class myself as a beginner at the mo so haven't really put this to good use, but I'm looking forward to the day when I can really use it properly.
The main thing I stuggle with is the fact that everything is manual. I'm using it on a D90 which means the metering doesn't work, though apparently it does on the higher range and some alternative manufacturer cameras. I'm sure this will come with time as my skills improve, but it is something that may be worth taking into consideration.
