Lenses for my new 450D

Having got a450d under the Christmas tree waiting for me, I need some help and information on a possibility of buying two new lenses. I Have looked around, and read some threads on this and pretty sure I will buy the Canon 55 - 250 IS lens.
Where I am really struggling on is a macro lens I am tempted by the sigma 105 and hear good reports? I don’t understand much but I will mainly use the lens for plants and animals no insect work so any help will be appreciated. :shrug::shrug:
