Lightroom and duplicates

Hi there.

Some of my images in lightroom are catalogued, some haven't been imported into LR yet though, and im mindful that there are duplicate photos on my harddrive, and I don't know how many.

Is there any easy way to:

1) after importing all images into lightroom, checking for duplicates, based on perhaps exact file size maybe?
2) on import, check for duplicates first?

If you sort by date created then duplicates will appear together.

Thanks for the reply, thats a good suggestion, my only concern is, if theres loads of photos its going to take ages to work through,spot and delete. Is there nothing that can basically gather all duplicated photos by default and basically select all and delete?
