Little Advice please

I was wondering with the item above, for my D3000 do i need a receiver or will the camera automatically detect it?

It'll be fine, you just need to go into release mode and select remote.

Release mode? How would I change that?

On my D60 I press the bottom button on the left (the one with the zoom in symbol),

It's then the option underneath ISO sensitivity.

You can also go into the menu, and you'll find it in 'CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU' option number 4. I expect the D3000 isn't too different.
