Not really quite sure where to put this post on the forum (so mods please move if you think somewhere else is better)

I am looking for a location for a shoot in September.

It needs to be :

1) Disused/abandoned factory or industrial type location

2) Non-modern - I need red bricks not sheet metal sheds

3) Not quite pristine, the tattier the better actually.

4) Kent/Sussex/Essex or maybe SE/E/NE London.

I'm NOT looking for anything illegal, so if you know of a location, let me know the details so that I can contact the owners/agent and arrange for access with their consent.

If you can help me out then I can invite you along to the shoot to take whatever photos you feel like.

Exactly what I am shooting remains classified at this time, but sadly I can tell you now its not glamour :bang:

There could be a couple of locations in Surrey if that is close enough for you?

In paticular disused Asylums/Hospitals, very tatty and old.

I will dig out the names when I get home from work and try and find some pictures from the sites to see if it is what you are after.

Not sure whether permission would be granted to shoot there but no harm in trying.

desantnik,

Can you create some space in your inbox - just tried to PM you....

Mark.

what about the old cement works at shoreham, owned by Dudmans

Cheers, they might be ok - more industrial is probably better. But definitely has to be fully legal with us being on the property

How much room do you need?

Well, one large nicely battered room/hall/workshop would do. Roof is optional :D

Done!

Cement works sounds maybe good - is it brick?

Thanks for the replies folks!

I might have somewhere that might be of use to you over in Godstone (workshop), I'll take a few pics of the site and PM them to you over the weekend

Thanks in advance Bryan!

Bump...

I haven't forgotten your pics, its just that they've been sat on a CF card at work that I have only just remembered to bring home today!

Off out in a bit, but will fire them over to you later this evening

If I could jump in here with apologies to Gremlin....

Not much brick there AFAIK - if any. Mainly asbestos - hence apparently one of the reasons it hasn't been demolished..
Plenty of links (external and internal shots) to it via Google if you want to check it out as there maybe something there for you.
I also have some (external) photos for some of the buildings, taken from the old railway line on the western side of the complex, but doubt they will tell you any more than a Google search unfortunately..

John

Hmmm asbestos might prevent them from allowing us to use it - you know how funny people are about such things...

Sorry I never got back to you with those locations. Not sure if they will be of any use to you but worth a try.

First one is West Park Mental Hospital in Epsom, Surrey.

Another is Cane Hill Asylum which is in Coulsdon. Havn't been here in a long time and I know they started to demolish it so not sure how much is left, but the place was great and absolutely huge.

Have not come across that site before, only just when googling the names. I discovered these on the Urbex (urban exploration) forum http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/.

Might be worth a look for locations. Good luck

Thanks but I don't think an asylum will cut it and definitely unsure about getting permission to be there...

Just to stress the point, I really DO need to get permission to be there for this...

Just a thought - have you tried Defence Estates?

They will allow filming on MoD property, so if it's for a 'proper' job...?

Cinq Ports Training Area is close to you and has lots of derelict, semi-derelict areas (some were used in the filming of 'Children of Men' inc the derelict school...)

I think I've seen most of the MOD stuff in this kinda area and none of it is quite what we are looking for for this one...

Actually, I hadn't thought of Aldershot... there could well be something usable there.

I'll get on the horn to them in the morning.

Too bad you're down south. In the village I live there's like an abandoned/semi-destroyed warehouse in the village I live. It's got loads of Red Bricks surrounding it and a fair bit of material about.
