Hello all.

Has anyone been? I have an invite for tomorrow and want to know if anyone has shot there before? according to their site, no flash and no tripods...

So, if you have been how did you get around this?

Cheers,

Nick

I went there and got some fairly decent shots handheld. Basically high ISO is what you need. Most of the fish tanks are quite well lit. The biggest problem is the dirt on the tanks, and the quality of the glass.

Cool, I thought high ISO may be the case.. Should be a good day,

Thanks

i went as it is very close to the london eye. worth going to get some shots of the eye?

I didnt think too much of the content as it was really dark and variaty of fish was average :(

It's pretty easy to get 'okay' shot as the big tanks are reasonably bright. I wouldn't go with high expectations -- and apparently it's okay to use a flash if it's on a compact or cameraphone as that's not proper photography (or at least I assume that's why nobody was stopped from doing it).

I went there a few years ago, and loved it. Well, actually, the kids loved it and I had a blast taking nice shots.

If you have a rubber hood for your lens, then use that! Put the hood on to your lens, and stick it to the glass (use manual focus) and you should be getting some really nice shots.

Isn't it closed for a complete refurb? Or is that not happening yet?

Looks like the refurb finishes in March. According to the blurb, some attractions may be closed. Hopefully the worst is done!

Well bad migraine stopped play :( I may wait a few weeks until the refurb is complete

TIP: Take a pack of glass wipes to remove the snot, chewing gum, spittle, ice cream and other assorted varieties of gloop that you'll encounter on the glass. I got some OK shots but its pretty dark in there so a high ISO, your fastest lens and patience are a must - good luck!
