I tried doing a long exposure shot of the sea, to get that blurred effect, I had my ISO on 100, and aperature 5.0... When I looked at the picture it was really bright.. How do i fix this
You over exposed the shot. Fix it by exposing correctly - in this case, stop down to a higher aperture, and/or add filtres to reduce the light reaching the sensor.
You have to metre your long exposure shots just as you would any 'normal' exposure.

Metering is how you decide what exposure you need for any given photograph. So, the combination of shutter speed, aperture and sensitivity ISO.
You will see the meter moving around in the viewfinder when you point your lens at different scenes.
So, for a 'normal' photo, you may set something like a shutter speed of 1/250th of a second, an aperture of f/5.6 and an ISO of 100. Now, if you wanted to take a long exposure in the same circumstances, you would have to close down the aperture to let less light in, to compensate for the longer shutter speed.
