long exposures in daylight?

Just a quick one to those of you that have used 10-stop filters....what is the best way of setting a custom WB for these shots? I shoot in raw so in effect should I even be worrying about setting a custom WB?

Sure you can adjust colour in Raw, but I find that I use the LCD and histogram quite a lot to get the final exposure right and it just helps if the LCD image at least looks the right colour. Also, once you have set custom white balance, that is tagged to the Raw file to save you messing about getting it right in post.

Shoot a white card as you would with normal custom white balance, with the filter on. If the exposure time is really long, you can cut that shorter by using the lowest f/number and whacking up the ISO.

With some cameras, you can save that custom white balance in the user settings and recall it later, which will be fine if you are shooting again under the same conditions, eg normal daylight shouldn't change much.

Thanks HoppyUK.

Thought that might be the case. I'm going on hols tomorrow (got filter today) so just checking tbh! I can save custom WB in the user settings so will do that tomorrow.
