Low ISO softness

Does shooting at a low ISO make an image softer than a slightly higher ISO? I

recently posted a shot on another forum and another poster thought it was

soft and a higher ISO would have been better.

This is the shot:

canon

looks to me like softness caused by camera shake.

in my experience, low iso gives more resolution than high iso, simply because some image definition and detail is lost through noise.

They might've meant that a higher ISO would've allowed you to use a faster shutter speed or to stop the lens down a bit, both would increase sharpness on a shot like this.

I think they said higher ISO would have been better, because it would allow you a faster shutter speed. Which would have got rid of some of that camera shake which is what's caused your image to be a little blurry....

Right, I understand now. I can't work out why I was on such a low ISO, normally at that time of day I was bumping it up to at least 400.

I kept saying to myself "don't be afraid of high ISO" :bonk:

Thanks.
