10 years since i was last at luton town.. Going 10th March but parking looks like a nightmare.. honestly cant remeber from last time.... official site says nr station thats 20 minute walk.. need somethign closer wiht equipment..

Any reccomendations.. will be there early enough

Not a sports photographer but I’ve been to quite a few Luton games. The nearest car park is Crawley Road car park off Telford Road. It’s about a 10 minute walk away but fills up quickly especially on Saturdays when there is a home game (should be easier with you arriving early). Up to 10 hours parking is £2.40 on a Saturday. There is also a NCP car park at Regents Street next to the Premier Inn, all day parking on a Saturday should be £2. The ‘official’ car park (there are two smaller club car parks near the ground but for official use only- probably doesn’t cover photographers as it’s officials/players/ exec blocks) has recently opened as a way to make use of the land purchased for the potential location of the new stadium. Like you say it’s the other side of the town centre and quite a walk away from the ground. There is potentially on street car parked in the streets around the ground. I’m not sure if there are any restrictions in place on match days as I’ve not done that for years (years ago, back in the 90’s, youngsters would offer to look after your car for a couple of quid!). Whatever you do don’t use the Sainsbury car park as they don’t like it and have cameras in place to fine anyone who is there too long.

Cheers rob.. i ahd been looking but all the car parks I had listed where 2 hr MAX .. I had thought about the beech working mans club but although good for away end still a long alk for me.. The Crawley rd carp park looks ideal (well as ideal as i am going to get) and will be arriving about 12 noon so that should be early enough to get in or wait for a shopper to leave :)

I ahve a very large heavy peli case which is only good on smooth ground so didn't want to park too far away as not really something anyone would want to carry :)

THANKS :)

Been there a couple of times in the past several years ago. There is/was a car park at the club for the team coach etc. Can you possibly get a pass for that? The whole place is a nightmare, steep concrete steps down to the pitch, can only shoot from behind the goal line, etc. I hated lugging my peli case around there. Oh, and they made me have one of their blue hi-viz vests. Still got it somewhere ....

Dont think I havent Thunk of that :)

Got a a plan A and a plan B now. .. The beech workin mens club is 6 minutes away and has parking for the footy ....The Crawley rd car aprk thanks to rob.. is 10 mins away.. so get there early and do one or t'other i think :)

You’ve got no chance of a space at the ground. I once went as a director of Hartlepool United (Friday night match, no directors went!) as a guest of the club kit man and we had to park away from the ground.

hence why I asked for reccomendations elsewhere.. the club already stated no parking when you apply for the photogrpahers pass:)

Have a look at JustPark. There rise an app or website. I've used it for large cities and its been v useful. Can't vouch for Luton, but sure there will be places on there.

No affiliation, just a user that is impressed!

£10 per hr nearest one ..already checked. :(.. use them a few times in the past.. excellent resource.. esp when in london and as you say any big city really .. used it for QPR and West Ham games as both had no parking..

Went there with Hereford in Feb 2014 when Luton were in the Conference. Quite liked the stadium.

As well as nowhere very close to park, was put right in the corner for the first half and behind the barrier in the second half.

And we were hammered 7-0.

got to Luton about 12.45 and plenty of spaces on Crawley rd car park (thanks @rob-nikon ) I fully expected it to be packed and we would have to wait for a space... but loads of room... Walked into town and into wetherspoons... haha now that was packed and we had to wait for a space :) :)

got back to car park around 2pm and theres about half a dozen cars ready to pounce watching us go back to my car.. i had to wave and nod to them that i was going anywhere haha

not a bad walk to ground.. put my heavy peli case on a fold up stac-truck

position to photo from was limiting but i was given the OK to go into the away end and that meant standing to shoot over the wall the whole match and a moaning steward who thought i shouldnt be there..with a 93rd minute winner i ended up with the best shots of the day as i was in the winning fans end.. players ran right towards me and a massvive pile up in front of goal.. fans staff and players...

all in all a decent day out spoilt only by the fact that my wife and one of my sons where locked in the ground for ages while police in riot gear cleared the streets of rather upset luton fansx and then escorted away fans to cars and busses :(

Good result for you guys. Top of the table. John Coleman is working his wonders again!
