hi all.

can you use lux meters to measure ambient light to give you an idea where to start with shutter/aperature?
if so how do you convert the lux figure?

You camera will do a pretty decent job of indicating suitable shutter/aperture settings.....

Light meters are only really of use for flash photography and I doubt a meter designed for ambient light would be of use for very brief flashes.
