LX5 or S95

Apologies if this has come up before but:

I'm looking for a compact to carry about with me mainly at work and I cant decide between the LX5 or the S95. I like the idea of a viewfinder option on the LX5, but I like the small size of the S95 and the slightly longer reach.

Any suggestions, help, experience would be much appreciated.

Hi Lee,

I think you have a good idea of the different point of each camera. I went for the LX5 over the S95 as I wanted the wider end. The smaller size of the S95 wasn't a consideration for me, so it's biggest plus point didn't really figure for me.

You need to decide which of the 2 points you made are the most important to you. No one can make that particular decision for you.

The LX5 is a great camera, and I'm certainly not sorry that I picked it. From the reviews that I read, there seemed to be a suggestion that the LX5 had slightly better IQ over the Canon. I love it, it's really liberating to take the LX5 out.

We just bought an LX5 and I love it. The HS viewfinder is not nice and barely necessary due to the power LCD. I was initially very sceptical having returned an LX3 after a few days of not getting on with the awful buttons. The LX5 with its mini Canon style 4-way controller is something else altogether.

Many thanks guys, being swayed towards LX5! Is the HS viewfinder the EVF or the optical one?

FYI love my LX5 :-)
 
They are both great cameras, but if you are looking for something to put in your pocket then get the S95.
 
It's an EVF, needs to be because of the zoom. I use a lovely metal voigtlander OVF on my gf-1 (35mm with the 20mm lens),
