Yes
Right, got an iPhone 4days ago now, plugged it into laptop first day, nothing. Went to Apple store next day and they claimed its cos my phonenumber hadnt been transferred over fully yet. Found thishard to believe, but whatever, then yesterday after a disastarous DFU incident I uninstalled iTunes, and then reinstalled, voila iphone recognised. Great. Yay. Problem solved. Nope. Go to connect the iPhone again today - phone recognises it's conneced as always has, and charges, iTunes opens - but nothing appears in the devices bit.

It seems that it only works the first time after a reinstall of iTunes as I have just reinstalled iTunes yet again and it works....ANyway around this? Like loading an old iTunes - without getting an error message of there being playlists dated after the ability of the version I tried to load http://version 8.2 I think it was

Help. One of main reasons I got an iphone was cos of the syncing capabilities, this is a joke!

I am not gonna spend next 2years uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes everyday!!

This was posted on a mac forum I'm being ignored on, yesterday - I unplugged and replugged in the iphone yesterday after it had charged, and it worked - but again hasn't worked today, I'm thinking it seems to be when I've put my laptop into Sleep that it then somehow erases it's ability to read the phone, til next time I reinstall.

This is getting pretty urgent now too :(

Can anyone help?

Mac - which is what pizzes me off, it's meant to be easy peasy lemon squeasy to sync the two :err:

Using Snow Leopard

The latest.
During my fix apple solutions told me to do, I plugged it into the windows machine in the house, it worked first time, but the itunes on there is version 7 I think. However, it does occassionally work on my own laptop too, so confused :(

When you do get iTunes to recognise the iPhone have you tried restoring the phone to it's original settings (this is on the main sync page in iTunes) ?

Yes - this is what DFU is, I am not doing this again!

Basically, when my itunes/mac doesnt recognise the iphone, it literally just does not recognise the phone, so much so it wouldnt restore, The restore was only completed, and my phone only taken out of DFU mode because I was able to do so successfully on the windows machine!

No security software, and no iTunes helper isn't now, dunno why. But the first time this all happened it was running then, but still the same issue....

EDIT: should say, it recognises the iPhone to the extent iTunes is opened up/started - but....nothing else. Theres a definate fault in this, and I really can't be done with something going wrong :(

yep, as close to as possible, some of those files didnt exist on my system. But, this was an issue both before and after I've uninstalled and re-installed, so cant see an issue

Cheers, until I can get myself to a mac store/genius bar[not til August :(] I'll just reinstall iTunes everytime I wanna sync me iPhone :(

Err - I think HAL said it best...

Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before and it has always been due to human error.

 [hear the clip: http://www.palantir.net/2001/sounds.html]
