Why not tell us what's up in the first place ?. You can easily set a Mac back to factory settings etc with the correct keystrokes on boot up.

Otherwise, post on a MAC forum before you shell out hard earned on what could be an easily solved problem :)

Cheers,

Dougie.

Main issue is me! Needs setting up properly ,now I have a external drive that was formatted ms-dot (fat) now mac said it cant read the disk and I think the missing files are on there ,been into disk utility and there's information on there but cant see it.

Were you using that disk on Windows previously?

There are some questions you haven't answered in the other thread, it would help diagnose.

I'm not putting my hand up as an expert, but I believe MS-DOS FAT should be able to be read and written to by both Windows and Mac. Possibly a permissions problem for the external drive? Click on the drive icon and press CMD-I to bring up an information pane, at the bottom should be a cog with an indication of who has permission to read and write to the drive, check that you have both in case that's an issue.

All sorted hard drive faulty, thanks for your help [emoji1303]
