Very strange issue here. For some reason my mbp just won't get online via the wireless router.

Have tried rebooting both the mbp and router many times

My iPad, iPhone and windows lappy connect without issue

The mbp sees the router ok, it just refuses to get on the web

Have owned my mbp for about two years, never an issue before which is strange.

I installed lion about 6 weeks ago and all has been fine up until y'day so don't think that's the issue

I've tried removing the wireless and setting it up again from scratch, same result

HELP!!

Check that the browser/mail app hasn't gone "Off Line"

Go into Safari, you should get a error.. in middle there should be a diagnostic tab, click on that and keep clicking next and yeah to restarting see if that works.. i had same problem with mine.. To do with update with airport card on lion..

Try that..

Sorry to be thick but how do I do that?

OK i'll give this a try, Safari loads but the progress bar sticks and appears to freeze.

Running snow leopard and i occasionally get it. I have to reboot both router and mb to get it back online.

Thanks but I've tried that many a time without success.

It's all very strange!

Go to File and at the bottom or somewhat near there should be an entry to either Go Offline or Go Online

Wireless on some macs is crap sometimes. I think they're more sensitive to interference than they used to be so if you have neighbours on the same channel you get more drop outs. My old imac never lost wireless. The laptop used to lose it all the time. It was so bad I went back to using a cable. It's been ok for the last couple of years now though (famous last words!)

The first few iterations of Snowy had some bugs with wireless connection on MacBook Pro's. I think 10.6.4 solved the problem, though. I had it for months and went back to cable for a while, but all seems fine now. Hastily looks for large piece of wood

I have an iMac for 3 months now. I upgraded the os to Lion and that is when the internet connection problems have started. Sometimes I can't connect to the internet and have to reboot the mac. If I'm on the internet and go downstairs to say make a cup of tea come back and the internet connection has been lost!

Doing a bit of research on internet and some people on various websites have suggested the problem lies with Lion.

I had this problem with Snowy. The way round it I found was to got to sys prefs. Select Network and go to the Advanced tab. From there click on the TCP/IP tab and click on Renew Lease. This quickly restored the connection. Quicker than a reboot.

Connected via cable to the router for a few months till the problem was solved.

You might also want to check for other wireless routers in your area, as these can sometimes cause a problem. If there are try changing the channel the router uses to something different
