Having difficulties using msn on my mac. It doesn't seem to want to connect through wireless, however it worked when I connected through Ethernet at my student accommodation.

Just says it cannot connect. Is this something to do with the ports?

Any help would be appreciated, sick of using web messenger...

Does everything else work on the wireless network?

yeah. the msn on the windows laptops works fine. No other problems, just my msn.

go into system preferences and reset the details for the wireless adaptor. sounds like it may have a setting in there from your student accom which is stopping you accessing it.

Nah it didn't work before I used it at student accom.
Any other ideas? Remember I can connect to the internet pefectly. Just the msn wont connect...

My msn is working from my Macbook at the moment! Maybe uninstall it and reinstall?

Tried that aswell. Might try again though..
What version of msn do you use? You on a wireless?

if you can access the internet fine and other laptops can access msn ok then it rules out your ISP and your router. It may be best deleting the current version of msn you have and download the latest version. Try that and let us know how you get on?

I had no end of disconnections with MSN, even using a cabled connection. I installed Adium since, and it works like a charm :)

What version are you using? Never had any issues with version 8 on my Macbook Pro.

The latest one, 9 i think, well not using as it doesnt work, just the one I installed.

Have another good look at little snitch, because what you're describing sounds like the specific application is being blocked. Or you've got default rules set to block, and messengers not being excluded from that rule.

You should be able to connect to messenger over Ports 80 and 443 at the very least, since that's what your browser will be using, so it's an application specific issue.

Yeah I thought it might haven that.
However, just turned it off to allow all connections and it still said the same.
:shake:
