So now we know the ending and they are already discussing who should be the next James Bond but...

...if James Bond is dead, how can there be another James Bond. There can be another 007 with a different actor but surely that's as far as it can go? Could they be as trite as to find another 007 that -- purely by coincidence -- is also called James Bond. I don't see a way out of this, they've killed the character not just the actor portraying him.

James Bond is a pseudonym.
Maybe he's not really dead and he'll step out of the shower and it's all been a dream.....until he looks in the mirror and wonders why he looks different :LOL:

Pretty sure there was a new 007 in the same bloody movie I watched? Just saying…
 
seeing as the franchise is now nearly 60 I think the character would have died already...or be at least 100. Mind you it won't be the first time (if you're being geeky) that Bond has miraculously survived. Ian Flemming originally intended to kill him in From Russia with Love but Dr No starts with a very unlikely account of his survival
 
In tribute to the original Bond, "James Bond" becomes the codename for the double-0 agent tasked with the most demanding missions. Nobody knows he's dead except the people who were there, after all...

I think that they will continue with 007 and wouldnt be surprised if its a female actor. I think hollywood will want to move away from misogynistic male lead role.

James Bond is a man, and should never be a woman.
If they want a woman secret agent then they can use a new franchise or give him an equal partner....
They'll be wanting Santa to be a woman next...

At the end of the credits, it says 'James Bond' will return. Skyfall showed us that his real name is James Bond.

The next Bond film I'm guessing will be a reboot as was Casino Royale.

From Russia With Love was my favourite Bond book and movie. Having said that, I haven't seen any of the movies since Thunderball!

Of course Santa is a woman . That is why she always looks pregnant and wears a false beard. If she was a man she would not need one.
 
James bond is a fictional character. The episodes need not be consecutive on the time line. New episodes can be slotted in anywhere on that line..

That is true but the last two films have tended to carry on a story and it would seem rather incongruous to suddenly go off at a tangent using James Bond as a main character once more. Mind you, as someone has already said, they managed to bring Bobby Ewing back in Dallas after an entire series wherein he was dead -- something that was never forgiven by aficionados of the series -- so anything is possible...

James Bond has either been killed or has retired several times and has even come out of retirement once. All the operatives given the number 007 take the name.
