Making a long mp3

Hi

I need to make a long mp3. It could be a compilation of shorter mp3s but I need it in the form of one mp3 lasting for about 40 minutes. Does anyone know how I would go about doing it please

Of what...? Your own music... current mp3's strung together...? Do you have kit to do this...? or are you looking to do it via software...?

Tray Audacity.... it's free, and good.

Depends exactly what you're trying to do though.

I am making a slide show with royality free mp3s. It would make it easier if I could have one mp3 made up of 6 or seven smaller mps. This makes timing the slideshow easier

audacity looks excellent, thanks John and Ali. Any tips on how to merge the tracks into one MP3? Pretty please :)

Yep - if you're looking to do something using free apps, then Audacity is the way to go. However, as you're on a Mac, try GarageBand - it's pretty useful to be honest.

Personally, I use Cubase for all mt music stuff, but have to say that Garageband is a useful app and will allow you to do what you require... easily too Stew.
 
I have got garageband John, just never looked at it. Getting to grips with audacity, I have opened two files and then copied and pasted the second onto the end of the first

I guess hten I export as an MP3?

Sorry Stew, I've not actually used it! I asked my other half and for once just did what he told me! lol

Though I have actually installed it myself so will get to grips with it :)
