Mamiya 645 - Can't get it to fire

Right, film loaded (following a youtube tutorial), but now I cannot fire the shutter. I have removed the darkslide and wound the film to the first position, but no luck!

is there a lock around the shutter release button?

white square = ready to shoot - red dot = locked.

the shutter release button is on the white square, but no luck. I also have the hand grip attachment and it meters fine, but no shutter trigger

**update** when I take the grip off, I can fire the shutter when its on the yellow dot at any shutter speed

**further update** I can get the camera to work fine without the power grip. If I prewind the film, the grip will fire the shutter but will not advance the shutter.

Is there some sort of lock on the grip which prevents the camera firing?

There appears to be an exposure lock button on the grip itself. Failing that being the issue, you may have a problem with the grip.

still no joy with the grip, i can get it to fire the shutter, but it doesn't wind the film onto the next frame. I have tried both rechargeable batteries and regular disposable ones too but no luck :bang:
