Managing my raw files

I've got to the point where I am taking more than 10,000 raw files in a year. Not all of these are good enough to keep, of course, but when I do keep tham I often find a clash with an existing file with the same name. Can anyone offer me advice on the best way to store them?. Many thanks.

Get yourself a trial of Lightroom 3 - you can re-name files on import - I add the date at the beginning of the file name - so you don't get situations where the name is the same as a previous file.

I take around 4000 a weekend so need to manage them , I use lightroom 3 and rename them as they go onto the computer and meta tag them whilst importing , © and all that info .
Now all I need to do is type home or away or a players name ( takes a little more filing but worth it )

I never save a processed raw as raw, but as its final output, ie tiff or jpg depending on what its to be used for (printing, viewing or net) and in the sizes needed for those uses by me ie full size maximum resolution (240-300 dpi) Medium (150dpi) and small - 800 pixels on the longest edge.

I also check through my shot raw's now and discard any that don't come up to scratch, though I didn't in the past which saw me trawling through old raw's last night and deleting over 30GB in total from my drives, I mean if the shots "ooof" for any reason (focus, exposure etc) why bother keeping it? its never going to be used.
