These beautiful butterflies are continuing to do well at Finglandrigg Woods NNR in Cumbria, after they were reintroduced there in 2005. They were the most numerous butterfly there by a considerable margin, and at one point I watched 12 chasing each other across the meadow. The males are frustrating to photograph as they will settle and pose, then fly off to chase anything that flies near them, in case it's a rival male!
