Max screen resolutions and aspect ratios

Have downloaded adobe catalyst beta and am fancying trying to create a flash gallery idea.

Basically I need the following information.

What are the maximum screen resolutions commonly in use, as in 27 Mac screens etc. what kind of resolution will they be using?

Secondly am I right in thinking that the screen aspect ratio is in 16:9?

Thanks in advance and will put it up if things work out. Big if at the moment!

Yup iMac 27" are 16:9, resolution is a maximum of 2560 x 1440

Yeah, but want to do this so that will take up whole screen, shrinkable by resolution, well that is the plan anyways. Working it on a percentage type affair.

I am total noob at this, but just fancy playing with this.

Dell's 30" uses 2560*1900
Dell is one of few companies that make their wide screens in 16:10 ratio but still not all of their monitors

My Apple Cinema Display is 2560x1600 but I'd say 1440x900 would be a 'modern' average...

Why not just buy one (for peanuts) that does what you want

There are loads in here that do exactly what you've described, and you're probably only looking at about £30-50
