As you can see I have a Nikon D300, Having rang Nikon about memory cards they can only say they can approve cards up to 8GB as that is all they have tested up to. I was wondering if this camera can take higher cards like 16gb or more as there seems to be little information about this anywhere.

Thanks for everyones replies in advance

Definately will do 16GB just fine - I've got a Sandisk Extreme III and a Transcend 400x UDMA working fine in it.

Doesn't SDHC specify capcities up to 32GB? If the D300 is SCDH compatible, which I presume it is, you shouldn't have any problems. Check that you have the latest firmware.

SDXC, over 32GB, is a different story, as they've altered the standard - greedy suits...

It takes CF cards and so checking the firmware isn't really going to do much there.

I think it is rather academic really. I personally would rather use 4 x 8gb. At least you know all your images are not on one single card. Just swap them round as you are getting down to 10-20 shots or less. Even with a bulk loader you wouldn't get much more than a 100 shots in the film days and people managed. Also getting lots of 8Gb will be far cheaper.

The D300 uses CF cards, not SD cards...that's the D3000

*edit* Puddleduck beat me to it...lol

Latest D3 firmware added support for cards up to 64Gb - so the firmware can make a difference.
