I have been playing around with a monopod for a couple of months now and although i find it usefull it is a right pain in the behind to cary around when not in use.
I have had a look around for a solution of sorts but didn't find anything, so i came up with a very simple solution myself which i thought others may find usefull too so thought i would post it up.
This is for a redsnapper monopod, though i am sure the idea can be used on virtually any other.
This is literally a ten minute job and costs next to nothing.
First take one strip of steel plate roughly 35mm wide, cut it to length, file the ends cleand and round off the corners. Then drill a hole for the head fixing screw to pass through and bend to shape in a vice. You should have something a little bit like this.
And err, thats about it. Give it a little squirt of paint.
Assemble it in the monopod like so.
Maybe a bit Heath Robinson, bit it does the job and leaves both hands free to hold your camera when you don't want to be using the monopod.
