Memory Card problems!!

So I done some photography at a gig last night and when I viewed my pictures on the camera a few seem to be distorted and a few files said unable to view.

So when I got home I thought it was best to upload them straight away even though I needed my bed at 1am! The upload was unsucessful and I managed to copy the pictures manually from the memory card and paste them onto my pc.

When I disconected the camera from the pc it said error and offered me the option to format, which I had no other choice as when I pressed cancel it would not let me view any pictures.

Has any one had this problem before? Is the memory card corrupted?

Thanks

Stacie

Doesnt sound good. I get this problem when I load my mums camera (fuji compact) photos using a card reader. Works fine if you connect camera to computer. Recovery software was used once and worked on most files.
Kinda similar to yours but no help.

This was with my Sony A200, I wonder if the card reader done something because before I went I took the memory card out and put it in a card reader to cut all the pictures off so I had enough space.

I will try to re-format the card when I get home and see what happens! I was panicing that I was gonna loose my pics!

Have you done your shoot yet?

Your always best to format your card in the camera, rather than delete via your computer, not sure the reasons why, just works better.

Yea, I done my shoot. I have restrictions on image usage so can't post the pictures anywhere myself yet. Although I know some photographers have posted some on their personal web sites. I had to get a 2x extender as we were photographing from the mix position/sound stage, even at 400mm (with 70-200 plus 2x converter) it was a struggle.

hope you get that sorted

my advice is to use a card reader...and dont forget to click the safely remove hardware icon in the tray...then you wont corrupt anything connected to the pc or laptop
