Mark Zuckerberg was due to give evidence in court re failing to keep children safe on his Meta platform but has decided to pay a settlement maximum of $18bn (£13.3bn) to 48 states, plus the District of Columbia and three US territories which will be paid in instalments over a 10 year period. As always with these people, he's denying any wrongdoing just as when Andrew Mountbatten Windsor paid a rumoured £12million to Virginia Giuffre.

I know this is gross profit and there will be tax to paid, though it seems some of the very large companies don't pay that much, but with a gross profit for the year ending June 2026 of over $186 billion, paying the $18 billion over ten years seems like a very good deal for Meta, assuming TikTok and YouTube argree.
