I have often heard of this.....but how do you actually take a shot using this technique?
Thanks.
Thanks.
.......Now the camera will flip up the mirror in the first press of the shutter button and fire the shutter on the second. If you're on self timer, the mirror goes up when you press the button to trigger the countdown and the shutter fires at the end as normal.
If you're after top quality and want to dot and cross all the i's and t's then it's camera on a tripod, mirror up and remote release. That's the best chance of making sure there is no movement at all in the camera.
If you have Live View switch that on.
I can do it via LV or the damned menus.
Live view is a million time more convenient - I wouldn't bother learning the old fashioned way.......
is that right?
Spot on.
I would suggest though that if you're not using a remote release, to use the self timer. Otherwise you have to touch the camera again to take the pic and cause more vibrations.
Excuse me for being thick, but can you explain just how I do it in live view??
To use Live view i think it needs turning on in the menu. Once it's activated all you do is press the 'SET' button on the back wheel on the 40d and the screen will show what the sensor is seeing. You can zoom in by pressing the right hand button that's at the top corner. Press once for x5 zoom and again for x10 zoom. This will ensure the best focus if focusing manually. Then use the timer or remote (best) and bingo!
Spot on.
