modelmayhem > profile denied - dont know why

they're being declined because they're most definitely not model shots, and are just essentially headshots...

take some more 'arty' or more different shots of friends etcetc, go to a flickr/camera club/strobist/tp meetup, etc.

I think it may be because they appear more like snapshots than well thought out shots of models.

I have only just joined recently too and have gone out with the Bristol strobist group off Flickr to get started, as this is a new genre for me. If you look on Flickr and search for a London strobist group, then see if they have any meetings. This way you get to learn from other experienced photographers and get to photograph a few models. Its a great way to learn, I'm off to my 2nd meet tomorrow, there are about 20 of us so it should be good. Hopefully this will help you get a few images to start your portfolio off.

I've been on there a while but don't recall any issues with getting accepted, I've heard a few people say it's getting harder to get accepted, I don't think I'd have accepted my initial port to be honest :)

*Edit to add* I've just looked at the set you've submitted and yeah they aren't really so modelly.... plus as has been said they are a little dark looking. I think I had a few band shots in mine actually but it sort of showed a little diversity rather than say five shots all the same....

Have people got alot of decent work from this site then? from first impressions, it looks kind of tacky and myspace posy? il have to have a longer look later but...

It depends what you call 'work' .... making a living off there, definitely not.... getting an endless stream of models of varying quality prepared to collaborate for free... definitely. I quite like it actually.

sounds fun! i suppose if you dont take it too seriously and have fun frolicking around with the half naked models then you could get some nice portfolio shots and experience.

I'm not so sure about the frolicking or the half naked bit but it's good experience sometimes, it's nice to give a little helping hand to new models too as well, especially if all they have in their port is a myspacey phone shot or two... at least I can give them a slightly larger myspacey image or two :)

haha, yeah, i joke but I guess it is a good system! everyone get the experience they want, have just been scoping out some people out in my area. Seems to be quite a diverse bunch.

It's a bit more down to earth than PureStorm I think.... anyway, I seem to have derailed the OP's thread a bit.... my advice would be to shoot three or four friends or family members and resubmit, the standard isn't really that high I don't think.

i agree with lots of the comments above
i was a bit surprised that these were what you referred to as models
they arent models for clothing etc
and could be a bit less macho and better balanced regarding exposure
but it is a portfolio without variation
