My nice little setup of a pair of Samsung 913BW monitors is now a lonely singlie after one up and died on me. Screen went blank, power light flashed feebly and expired. Switched power cables round but not that. So am assuming an uneconomical repair so looking for a replacement candidate.

Have spent ages googling and have come up with two possibles that will max the budget. Samsung models XL2370 (£260) and F2380 (£200), both 23" jobbies but different panels. The XL uses a TN panel with LED backlights and the F uses a higher quality PVA panel. The XL has a faster response time of 2ms comapred to 8ms for the F.

I am erring towards the F2380 but can anyone suggest some other good options?

Jim I hope you do not mind me asking but why two monitors?

Because it gives me the widest image/work area. I can have Dr Who playing on iPlayer on one screen and be browsing the web on the other or have PS on one whilst I have a tutorial on the other. It's just great! Going back to one is a real drag.

If you're spending that kind of money, forget TN panels. Go the little extra and get a proper IPS display. Trust me, you won't regret it.

If you're going to go with TN panels, just head down to your local Comet and spend £100 on whatever generic brand 24" widescreen they currently have.

Did some more digging and IPS does look to be the way to go. Have found three possibles from Dell, the 2209WA (£223), the U2311H (£241) and the U2311H (£260). The 2209 has been around for a while and is well regarded whilst the others are newer models and are 1080P. I am inclined to go for the newer and larger panel and survive on bread and water for a while!

I have a Samsung 24" widescreen, it's crap I would never buy another. When this one blows I'll go back to IIyama. I have 1 over 10 years old,looks as good as the day I got it, and a 19" thats now 8 years old and the same.

Sumsung = Pants :bang:

Happy 2209WA user here.
