Hoping someone a lot more techy than me can offer advice. At the moment I PP on my lappy but there is a huge difference to the screen and the print out. My question is, if I get a monitor (Dell 2209wa possibly) and connect up to my lappy will I still be able to calibrate the monitor. Mick

Yes. Basically, you'll calibrate the monitor by setting the output of the graphics card to match the colours you should be seeing.

Do you print professionally? If you don't, and also don't calibrate your printer (similar idea to monitor calibration) that could also be a cause of the wrong colours.

EDIT: But what you asked, yes, it's possible to calibrate an external monitor.
