Looking at adding a Monopod to my collection.

Currently looking at MANFROTTO MN685B NEOTEC PRO MONOPOD

I have a Manfrotto Tripod and its amazing. So wanted to stick with them. Needed something sturdy that will be happy with the 1Ds and 100 - 400 on without any issues.

Anyone got this?

Any other ones I should look at. Weight and cost not a big issue.

Cheers

I have one that I hardly use,it won`t take the weight of my main lens, however it is more than adequate for a Nikon D300 with grip and an 80-400,300 F4 etc,so should be fine with your 100-400 and body.

I bought one of these at Focus this year. I am impressed with the ease that you can adjust it. I have a manfrotto ball head on it too and it is absolutely fine with my 100-400. This is the first and only mono I have tried so can't compare it, but I do like it and the versatility it gives you for slower shutter speeds.

Out of interest, what is your main lens?

Sigma 300-800, the manfrotto takes the weight, but just does not seem sturdy enough.I use a big old heavy Giottos monopod. That will take the camera, lens and 393 head with ease...:)

Fantastic, thanks. Yeah looking for something when you just cant get the tripod out, like the idea of the quick setup.

Sorry, this is no help with the Manfrotto monopod you are interested in, but I use a Velbon Pro Pod 7 along with a Manfrotto 486RC2 ball head and these have both proved to be great with my 40D and 100-400 lens and I have had no weight problems with that combination.

Like you, I also have a Manfrotto tripod so the use of 486 ball head allows me to use the same quick release plate for both, so that could be an option for you.

I have a 681B, if you do a search on here there was a fair old thread about Manfrotto monopods around the time I bought mine.

Well thank you for all the advice guys, I have ordered the Neotec with a quick rel head. Wooop
