4/ how portable it needs to be, closed length and weight.
Manfrotto are very good and Redsnapper get good reports on here but it's the old story, buy as good as you can afford.

What does AV stand for on nikon lenses.
I bought a mono pod around a year ago because it was a good price and I like gadgets
, it's only seen daylight once.
The only time it came in handy was when I was shooting a karting race, could have got it hand held though.
