Hi guys I have been asked to do a montage for someone. I was just wondering if anyone had any examples that would give me some ideas of what I could do.

Thanks in advance I hope someone has something

DSColour labs have some montage upload type software and it shows an example on the montage page if that help. Well priced too.

Hi fella, There are many types of montage what style and subject are you after?

Hi Daryl I have some white b/g shots that they want making into a montage. I have never made one before I have tried a few times but they look dated and tacky...

I would like to put about 5 images onto it Ideally 4 of them with a very small black border " for seperation"

Regards

Try putting montage into flickr search (everyones uploads) theres loads of them there (178,201 results) if that helps

I did a 6 photo Collage, don't know what the difference is between a Montage, i thought a Montage were photo's blended into eachother subtely.
There was a tutorial in Amatuer Photographer about creating them, i'll dig it out and scan if you like, First creating a canvas of about 18x12.

I'm doing exactly the same thing at the mo, and cant work out how to distribute things equally with photoshop, so pictures are equally spaced from each edge of the picture.

That one's reasonably simple to sort out if you're just doing 4 images, or multiples thereof.

Create the basic canvas with width of photo x 2 + width of internal gap, and then the same again for the length.

Position each image so that they butt into their respective corners and the centre gap is even.

Once you're happy with the set up enlarge the canvas size by the appropriate %age or pixels, using the centre square as the sticking point.

If you want more photos you can align the first four, expand the canvas diagonally by the appropriate size and then add, or just create multiple sets of four and then add them to a larger canvas.

I like this Daryl,

I take it these are school pics?
They look so much more natural than the boring pics you normally get, chance for kids to be "kids"

Thanks Mick. Yep class groups. done this for the last 3 years so it's now time to do some schools back to the trad groups just rotate styles. Plus I can do trad grps outside if the suns shining. not shot outdoors for years with this Montage style

Weddings are loving it too. Landscape albums. This is getting us work on this style alons as brides want something their mates don't have..

Plus if Auntie Maud is in the Dunnie you can add to the groups at any time and hold up the group shots. Ideal if the weather is peeing down too. No need to wait around waiting for the rain to stop.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for.
These are kinda old now, but might give you some ideas. The white borders can always be changed to black, or whatever colour you like.

Picasa3 has a collage option.
You can choose different layouts, sizes, angles, spacings, background colours etc.

Just one layout
