Moon Shot

Moon Shot from my back garden last night, practicing as my wife wants a full moon shot next week.

Canon 40D and Sigma 170-500mm

That's come out nicely Scott, nice details along the terminator and colour coming through in the Mare (seas).

The full moon is a lot harder to shoot than any other phase of the moon, the surface contrast is pretty much gone as the sun is directly overhead and there's very little shadow to be seen.

Yeh some nice detail in there indeed.

It`s maybe too tight a crop though? Just my opinion. Still a good shot.

That looks pretty damn good to me

Lots of nice sharp detail. Personally I prefer crescent moon shots rather than full moon. Compositionally they always seem to work better imo.

I agree with tjc that the crop is a little too tight

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate them.

In all honesty I didn't evening think much about the crop, I was to busy focusing on the detail and being chuffed to bits with what came out. But you are right, I will sort this out later.
