Just a quick note to say that I've added a new gallery to my motorsport section on my website.

On Saturday the CCS Rally was held on this little island, with a few teams from across in England comming over for a blast, and after a whole day in the bitter cold (-10 with windchill) I managed to get a few shots.

Please feel free to comment.

Some great images there and plenty of high air action :)
That Golf accident looks a bit nasty with the high banks either side

good stuff as usual Kris, what gear did you use?

Cheers mate, I used the Sigma 70 - 200 on the one cam mainly, and the 17 - 40 on the other one.

There is one sequence of shots that meant I shot with one, then had to drop the cam and pick up the other to shoot the next bend, had it down to just under a second by the end of the event, lol

really nice shots, I think it was you gave me some tips across at ocuk for the rally I went to. Very helpful :)

Not much I could add dod, you have the knack of panning down really well. some great shots in there.

If I was to mention one thing, and please bear in mind that I am no professional, is that the first two cars seem to have a lot of space behind them, I feel that it looks better if the cars have space in front of them, to move into ... does that make sense ?

I am sure someone will word it better than I

Cheers for sharing your gallery, I enjoyed them.

Some good stop action shots there Kris.

I prefer to see a little/lot of movement in motorsport images, like you've captured in some of your other galleries.

dod

I know it can be difficult to capture some of these cars as they hurtle past, but composition still plays a big part in how the final image looks.
Quite a few images in your galleries have lots of space behind the vehicles, when really this space should be at the front.
Keep practicing and try to plan how you want the final image to look.

Also some of your subjects are full of shadow so try and keep the sun behind you, unless you are trying to create a silhouette.

just was looking back through posts and found this!!

dod - see them photos of the ascona - how much????? lol

I do believe that was one of the finest pictures I ever took, may well go down in photography history, years from now people will look at that Ascona and go "how did he take that??" :nut: :D

Do you know the car or something?

lol too right!!

naw i dont know it! its just over here in N.I there only is 1 half decent ascona rally car and we never see it on gravel, only on tarmac about 2 times a year!

lovely cars but unfortunately i was not old enough to remember them being driven at the top level!!

theyre good shots man!!

PM me your email and I'll send you the originals :)

have you any other rallying shots from the past?

or as a matter of fact has anyone on here any shots? even poor quality b/w is great!!

Hi there Steve

I have just been looking at your professional website and was wondering if any of the pictures that you are asking for here are to be used professionally along with the others on your site, or if they are for your own private use?

After reading...
Our main specialisation is in motorsport where we provide competitors and spectators with both photos and videos at selected events.

For more info email us at info@jsa-media.co.uk
it makes me a little suspicious that you are trying to get material for free.

If the use is private then that is fine but maybe being a little clearer with your requests in the future would be fairer to our members?

o sorry guys, naw the photos were for myself and no way would i want to make any profit out of anyone elses work, i would hate it done to myself so no way would i do that to anyone! sorry i should have clarified that, understand where ur coming from!

just for own private use as i said to dod, if dod wants the shots on the website, i could put it on the site with a copyright thing with his name/website/whatever on it but if not it will not be going on site! up to dod!!

i just loved them shots of the ascona!! :)

Hi Ian, no probs from my point of view :) I don't even mind if it goes on the webby with a copyright motice, let me know what you'd prefer. Better take it to PM's again :)
