MP3 software editor?

Can anybody recomend a fairly simply MP3 mixer/editor. I need to overlay several tracks and sometimes "loop" a shot track to make say 30 mins out of a minutes track (sound effects) any suggestions?

There's Goldwave as well, not free unfortunately but only $49 for a lifetime license.

I bought it some time ago for $25 I think, very easy use when I need it.

Adobe Audition is the best choice. If you like GoldWave, you can get it free full version to 2012/06/11 in this page.

Also check out Reaper. It's not free, but for the price, you will be very hard pressed to do better.

It is much more full-featured than Audacity, so when you hit the limits with Audacity, you'll need to look for something else. At $40 or $150, it's well priced.

The next step up in audio software from that will cost hundreds of dollars more. But you are unlikely to ever need anything that powerful -- Audacity or Reaper can fill most any need.
