Multi Resistant Coating vs Single Coating

Hey guys, just after a bit of advice. Is there that much difference in these two coating methods, as far as end results go, for either an ND filter or a CPL filter. Reason being, I'm looking at getting some filters very soon, namely the B+W 110 ND, and the B+W CPL filter. I'm wondering if the extra expenditure is worth it for MRC over SC?

Different coatings have different effects on flare (and how much it becomes an issue in your shot) but the MRC coating is mostly for scratch resistance.

I bought the B+W F-Pro 77mm 101ND SC and don't regret it for an instant. But, I've been extremely careful with it, and I generally have it setup on a tripod, in semi-controlled conditions. So I can be relatively safe with it.

For a CPL, I would probably go with the MRC, as it's something I'm generally going to be using handheld and keeping it on the camera as it dangles from my neck. There's more risk that the filter could get knocked or rub against something, so more risk of being scratched. The only thing that's put me off getting it so far is that I don't often shoot in conditions that justify a CPL and my cash has higher priorities right now.

Cheers for the reply Kaouthia. I like have you've put that actually, because as you say, when using the ND filter, it'll more than likely be on a tripod, so a controlled environment, where as the CPL I will possibly be using as a 'walk around' filter. Hadn't really thought about it like that, stupidly, lol.

It's not something I imagine most would think about either.

For the sake of completeness, I use B+W 77mm UV filters on all my lenses too and, for the same reasons I'd get an MRC CPL, I use MRC UV filters. :)

Yeah I'll probably get a UV filter next month, also MRC as you say.

Will all be 77mm too, just to compliment the Tokina 11-16 I've just ordered :D.
