my amp remote just died

the remote for my sony amp just stopped working today, it's only 2 years old but clearly out of warranty.

a new one costs £50!!!

for a bloody remote!

can you get universal remotes that operate amps? its the sony STR-DG820

an all in one should work, i had a cambridge audio one that controlled my amp, but i prefer the oem one, it controls everything

the one i had was terrible (clearly by the fact they dont make it anymore) simply for the fact it didnt have buttons but it was a touch screen which meant you couldnt just press a button and hold it to lower the volume you had to repeatedly stab at it!


you could of course upgrade your amp....

it may be a good time to get a logitech harmony remote, its nice pressing a device button that turns everything on and selects the right channels for cable, tv, media pc etc along with turning the amp on.

i dn't see the buttons for changing the source of my amp from tv, sat dvd etc

Try ebay I found a replacement for my sony amp for not that much £180 remote got it for £30 new as well not a used 2nd hand. It was on an old ebay acound that got hacked so I can't remember who it was from sorry.

GO and buy a Yamaha amp, my remotes 12 years old and still like new.
