Yes
Did some some shooting at a company that makes fragrences for perfumes etc... obviously got used to the smells there, next day my camera and flash smell of perfume !! It is a bit off putting and annoying so how can i 'clean' it to smell neutral?

baby wipes? It will then smell like...well a babys bottom instead of a hookers bottom drawer

Sorry, couldn't resist, but seriously, I have seen this questioned asked before and the wet wipes type thing seemed quite popular, though personally, unless is was actual grime, I would just let it fade, which it will quite quickly I imagine.

As long as it doesn't smell like a Canon I'd just leave it, as the fragrant Yv says, it will fade away pretty quickly..

I'd just leave it in a airy room - given a couple of days the smell should just disappear....

Get outside and do a days shooting in the open air. That should sort it out!

Carbon is good for getting rid of smells, put some in a small linen bag near your camera and it should absorb the pong, think you can get it in aquarium shops, it like the stuff you put in filters, downside though linen bag may leak so dont put it in your camera bag

Now how would you know that??;)

Apologies for the off topicness, but I just had to say that this post title is full of WIN.

Hi Dave,

It's NOT text speak. It's internet slang. It's rarely funny, not very clever, and I wish I wasn't responsible for dragging this topic so far away from reality we're in Douglas Adams territory.

Of all the mutilations of the English language that have surfaced on the Internet, the abuse of the word "win" would surely count as one of the very worst. The word "win" was originally a verb, so grammatically correct use would be "I hope that I will win the competition." However, its usage has changed over the years, as internet users of various web forums began using it as a noun, referring to something as being "full of win," as an adjective, such as saying, "This is win," or even as a general exclamation of disgust by saying quite simply, "WIN." The word "fail" is also used in the same context.

I hope this is helpful, and apologies once again to the OP for being an idiot.

Oh

text speak. It's internet slang its all the same
I even had to google Douglas Adams Not into science fiction books  to understand part of your explanation :bang:

Put some charcoal on a layer of newspaper (not the charcoal impregnated with lighter fluid) and put it in a big cardboard box, at one end. Put your camera in the box at the other end and close it up. Leave it overnight and the smell will have gone.

If you don't have charcoal, you can use a bowl of white vinegar.... but be careful!

As a side note, both these work great at getting rid of pongs in your car - wet dogs, spilt milk, incontinent relatives etc

Carbon, Charcoal, they're about the same  .. and good for removing unwanted odours.

There is also that stuff they put in fridges, I can't for the life of me recall its' name! I think it's in a box with a picture of a guy's arm holding some form of hammer!

Put your camera in a bag, a small garbage bag would be fine, and put some of whichever of these elements you get your hands on with it (make sure you don't get any of these stuff on your camera though). Keep over night and it should absorb that stench.

Ok, bought some carbon from a pet shop, there are 3 bags, around the size of an ipod but obviously much thicker. I have had 2 in a closed plastic container for around 24 hours now. It still smells quite strong but I think it may have eased slightly. The carbon is in its own net bag and I have placed at opposite end to camera.

So guess I have to just sit and wait...

Spray it with air freshener or leave it in a bowl of soapy water overnight that should get rid of it.
