A Few weeks ago I was approached by "Schmap" via Flickr and they had asked to use one of my images. I was happy for them to do this and they said it will be reviewed and then I will be informed if it made the final cut.

Well I received an email today and it made the cut!!! :D


I'm very happy with this as it is my very first image where-by someone has firstly spotted it, and secondly Wanted to use it!

Yes it was for £0, But I get full accreditation and it links back to my flickr account.

So for me its a win win situation, It cost me £0 to take and I get full credits :)

I don't want to rain on your parade, because I've got photos published for free, too. And it's an awesome feeling.

But don't let it happen again. What you'll find is people trawl flickr looking to get photos for free.
You'll find that if they want the image they'll pay for it :) Even if it's only 10% towards your next lens purchase :thumbs:

Ahh trust me my photos probably wont be picked up again so a freebie is fine. As It was my first also, I didn't mind :)

Yeh happened to me too, and now my free pics from Thailand, are on a commercial website should have charged them really, wont be giving any more away :bang: yeh OK I got credit and a link to my website so alls not lost I suppose

Its nice to have felt that someone took the time to look at my image that was not apart of this website or the other website i use.

I dont think I will ever get crazy covarage of my images, but We can all hope!
 
Well done gazedd. Sounds like you are happy with that, so great! That's all that matters.
I've had 4, maybe 5, Schmap requests, and I have refused them all. I don't take photos to make money, but then I don't give them away either!! If they are willing to pay, then I will consider it, but for now I'm happy to carry on as I am.

As an aside, I don't know how well they do their research, but one of the requests was for the London Butterfly house at Syon park, after it had closed down and moved to somewhere else!!
 
Yea, I heard a lot of people wont give Schmap there images, but the one will never hurt me.

It's given me a little boost i need so its all good :D
