Just got my Redsnapper Tri-283 and TB12 ballhead today, Fastest delivery I've had yet from any photographic company 10 out of 10 for delivery Joe, ordered it late Sunday night, here Tuesday morning from TNT. Only gripe was the packaging for the ballhead was all loose and ballhead lying loose and unprotected in the big poly bag but no damage so I'm ok with that, the tripod packaging was not secure either but no damage to tripod.

Anyways, I have two question, excuse me being a numpty.
1:
The numbers at the base of the TB12 which seem to be adjustable on slackening the locking screw ...what are they for and what purpose are they used for, my ancient tripod I just got rid of didn't have anything fancy like that

2:
Do I need to get a longer qr plate to sit my 100-400L collar on or will the standard qr suffice ?

OMG! Two Jocks in disrepute :)

Read the manuals guys. ;)

The tripod and ball head are relatively easy to operate. My suggestion is that you set everything up and try adjusting one of the dials to see what effect each has.

Had mine for a few weeks now and find it very easy to use.

The small knob controls the resistance on the panning movement, the middle size one sets the resistance you prefer the ball to move with and the large knob locks and unlocks the ball.

Wife was complaining and sent me through the room :D

Couldn't she have a play t............................ no sorry can't finish that;)
