My new Website

Hi Chris!:)

I've tried to have a look at your site but I get:

Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)

I quite like that actually, nice and clean, looks modern. Now just get some photos in the portfolio section!

What did you use to build it?

Very slick ,i really want to build a site but lack the computer skills and the nowhow heh ho

Hi. It looks very slick, not completely convinced about all the photos, some are very bright, others are very dark, gives an uneven appearance. I would say, though, that I don't get why you have all your styles in the web page, and why there is so much javascript. There is virtually no content for google to find you, and even if there were its so far down the page that the spiders would give up and go away before they found it. May be that's not important, but it will help your page to load quicker.

I don't know about bigblackbag offering 'standard compliant' web pages, checked your home page and guess - 259 Errors, 155 warning(s) for xhtml. Even checking HTML5 or HTML4 still gives 150+ errors. Not sure how that squares with "Our portfolio websites use standards compliant HTML making all your content highly visible to search engines which translates into customers."

Just a couple of small points

a) its not displaying full screen on my 22" monitor - it seems to be a set size and stays at the left of the screen - no big deal

b) A few bits of gramma innit ;)

.I wanted to be able to record and enjoy every second of her growing up.

there shouldn't be a full stop at the begining of this sentence

From there on i developed my love of photography through all the genres but fell in love with portraiture and taking photographs of people.

I should always be a capital , also you've used love twice in that sentence - perhaps " developed a passion for all types of photography but really fell in love with...."

I enjoy photographing people because every single one is unique. every face tells a story.... that's the story i aim to capture..... the true you

another small i and also that e should be a capital cos its at the begining of a sentence.

Also not sure about the double use of story in that sentence - you could lose "that's the story" and just say Every face tells a story so I aim to capture ... the true you.

Tho actually i'm not sure about 'aim to capture' - that implies you might fail - how about " Every face tells a story and my photos capture the true you "

and c) lastly I'd bin the testimonials page until you've got more than one

Other than that nice site :)

HTH

I like it a lot :)

Only comment to add to above is that the slide show on the front page is a little fast for my liking! I like to be able to look at the images in more detail before they move on.

I like the simplicity of it.

My two points of criticism would be the menu structure doesn't seem very intuitive, one level of drop downs is bad enough, but two is annoying. I would also get rid of the cityscapes portfolio, as the rest of the site is geared up for weddings/portraiture it seems a bit out of place. If that is the work you are doing for yourself rather than your business Flickr may be a good bet for sharing it.

I agree with Carol, it's quite important to make sure that your pages are W3 compliant to make sure they view properly across all browsers.

And, as Carol says there is nothing for the search engines to index.

And, oddly, you have a link to external CSS files but then have CSS on the actual pages themselves NOT in the external files.
