My week without my DSLR

So I decided the night before going on holiday that I would leave all my camera gear at home and taken nothing but my new iphone4. As a working photographer this is something many people think is strange, but sometimes you get fed up with using big gear to take images, and want to challenge yourself.

Now this was a challenge as I was going to Cornwall and would be staying in the beautiful. Town of Falmouth. It was strange for the first few days adjusting to the fixed focal length (zoom function is digital and therefore terrible ) but yeah the iphone is a worthy camera and incredibly responsive.

All results are taken using the iPhone 4 and edited using apps on the iPhone only.

Pretty good for a phone, cant complain at that.

I couldn't go away without my DSLR anymore.... Just wouldn't feel right.

I'm loving the camera on the iphone 4, in fact it has removed the need for me to take a P&S out to meals, parties etc..

Damn...I think I have found a new respect for Iphone pictures...

Of course, these don't compare with DSLR quality, but for reference or opportunity shots - wicked stuff!

Another great thing is that you can view your pictures on the map and see exactly where you took them. Good if you want to go back at a later date with the dslr.

The one thing I have always liked about iPhone photos is they have a very 'film like' colour gamut. Obviously I don't see why you can't take a good iPhone photo in good light.

There does seem to be something a bit weird going on though as the top two images both have a pink tinge at the left.

I'd say it's more likely the sensor being a bit iffy or perhaps warming up a little - I have an old compact which does this exact same thing. Produces a warm tinge on one side, and a cooler green tinge on the other.

Good snaps but I still wouldnt be without a P&S, a camera phone has its uses though as it is handily carried around. Plus the battery life on the iPhone is awful without using it as a point and shot.
